Greetings, Seaside!
Once again, thank you all for supporting your children and teachers as we move back into the school year. Some students were able to jump back in without issue, others have been experiencing difficulty. Please know that the most important thing is the emotional well-being of your child. Patience is essential as students return to the online learning process. Praise for good efforts goes a long way in providing comfort, building stamina and generating a positive outlook and self-esteem.
A large part of the learning right now is how to use the computer and the Learning Platform. This is especially true for our youngest students.
Here is a link that you can paste into your browser to help you understand and support your child in use of the platform: https://docs.google.com/
You will be happy to know that the District has purchased a Zoom license for each teacher to use in an effort to alleviate the technology glitches. The second full week of instruction should go more smoothly.
We have two exciting events/activities for students to participate in this year so far.
The PTA Reflections Art Program will continue as it does every year. Students are invited to create an art project in response to the theme question: I Matter Because… Please see the PTA web site at https://www.pta.org for more information.
The Multicultural Student Presentation program will continue virtually this year. Parent/PTA member Pat Bressi is the chair. Students can create a presentation to share/teach others about their culture in a video. The presentation is wide open. It can be a performance, a story, a food network cooking show, a holiday recreation/explanation… encourage your child to be creative if this is their interest! For more information, contact Pat Bressi at bovinia@hotmail.com
Free Meals: Free meals are available at your homeschool to anyone 18 and under through December 31, 2020. Meals can be picked up on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the valet area. Meals include breakfast and lunch for 3 days on Monday and two days on Thursday. Adults can come without a child to pick up the food. Please complete the application at family.titank12.com and select ‘apply for meals today.’
Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 10th starting at 5:00 p.m. with a PTA meeting. The link will be sent out in the near future. 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. will be the 3rd - 5th grade classroom meeting times and 6:30 - 7:00 will be the K - 2nd grade meeting times. Teachers will distribut the links. Please know that these meetings will provide broad classroom information and an opportunity for adults to meet the teacher and understand how the classroom is functioning. Individual questions should be reserved for a private meeting with the teacher at another time.
Materials Pick Up: Should you need to exchange a chromebook, pick up any learning materials or drop anything off at the office, we will be available to you between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Please make an appointment with the office prior to your visit to ensure distancing. Thank you!
Tomorrow is Labor Day and we will have no school. Because it is a short week, students will attend on Tuesday as if it were Monday and on Wednesday as if it were Tuesday. So, we will have morning and afternoon Blended Learning instruction and no morning assembly.
Have a great holiday, everyone. We appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bauer, Principal
